LBJ’s Great Society
President Kennedy was easily one of the most appealing presidents that the United States has had in a while in that era. The nation was absolutely devastated when they heard what happened to him. Luckily for the nation, his vice president was able to finalize a lot of the decisions that Kennedy wasn't able to which made the nation happy for a while.

jfk dies JFK dies on November 22, 1963. He was running for his second term as president. The day of his death he was riding in a convertible car with his wife, Jacqueline. They passed a bank when the shot was fired from somewhere in the distance. Kennedy was shot in the head to the point where it basically split in half. He was rushed to the hospital immediately where they pronounced him dead. Lee Harvey Oswald was the man that was arrested for the assassination. Jack Ruby was a nightclub owner and ended up killing Oswald on a different day before Oswald could reveal any information to the police. There were a lot of conspiracy theories about why he died, why he was wanted, and who was after him.

the vpLyndon B. Johnson was Kennedy's Vice President at the time. He was sworn into presidency the same day that Kennedy died, minutes after his official death. Lyndon was remembered as a good president at the beginning until he got more involved with issues with Vietnam. He invented medicare which was healthcare for the elderly which later led on to Social Security. He created a National Endowment for the Arts which helped out artists and galleries . He also passed the Immigration Act which ended discriminatory immigration quotas among the nation. However, he was the one that really pushed us into Vietnam which is why he was not in favor later on in his term.

Great societyLyndon challenged Americans to create a "great society" and to bring back the golden age. He signed the great Civil Rights bill which banned discrimination based on race or gender in employment, and it ended segregation in all public facilities. He built on JFK’s Peace Corps by creating a massive system of volunteer work in the US and a lot of that work happened in schools. He also declared war on poverty and passed the Voting Rights Act which banned voter discrimination and other illegal ways to stop people from voting. So for the most part, he did a lot of good things and made a lot of good final decisions that Kennedy didn't do before his death, until the Vietnam situation.
