"Thirteen Days" was a movie that was made about the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 90's. It came out so late because that's when the public finally knew everything about the situation, versus only knowing half of the story like they were told. The story follows President Kennedy and his special assistant through the days leading up to the possible breaking point. They go through interviews with the representatives for the USSR and multiple difficult and stressful times with being pressured to go to war yet stay at peace also. This movie takes you through every little bit of what the office was like for the higher officials in the government. For the most part, this movie was pretty historically accurate. Not completely, but more so than others are. For example it showed some of the discussions between the two sides, and they showed them in a way of how they actually went in real life. They showed some of the situations that actually happened on the battlefield and what life was like for the President and his Special Assistant. The movie kept your attention really well through all of the stress and build up that they presented through the characters actions. It did a good job at giving you an overall run down of what happened. There were a couple things they could have fixed, like show that they actually fired at the USSR's submarine and maybe focus more on the President and his home life than his Special Assistant. However, the movie did a really good job overall of giving you facts and keeping it entertaining to educate you about what truly happened behind the closed doors.
